Black music in the 1990s was about self-expression, style, attitude and of course, hot tracks. The decade ushered in a slew of artists with iconic clothing such as MC Hammer‘s gold glitter parachute pants, Missy Elliot‘s garbage bag suit and Erykah Badu‘s bohemian head wraps. Re-visit some artists from the 1990s who not only made a name for themselves with their incredible talent and showmanship but also for the looks they helped create and make popular. Many of these trends crossed over into the fashion world and became global trends, which exemplifies how innovative and powerful Black culture has always been.
