Per a Fox News affiliate, the Sanford police department has a “secret witness” statement in the Trayvon Martin case that corroborates George Zimmerman’s claim of self defense.
Zimmerman, 28, shot and killed 17-year-old Trayvon who was unarmed as he walked back to a friend’s house in a gated community near Orlando, Florida on Feb. 26.
Zimmerman called 911 to report a “suspicious guy” inside his gated subdivision. The dispatcher told him not to follow the teen. Zimmerman ignored the order and followed Trayvon anyway. FOX 35 in Orlando spoke to a witness who claims to have seen Trayvon beating Zimmerman who was on the ground screaming for help.
The witness, who is identified as “John Doe,” did not want to go on camera. The witness told FOX 35 he was downstairs when he saw two men scuffling in his back yard.
“The guy on the bottom who had a red sweater on was yelling to me: ‘help, help…and I told him to stop and I was calling 911,” he said. Trayvon Martin was wearing a
hoodie; Zimmerman was wearing red. The witness continued: “When I got upstairs and looked down, the guy who was on top beating up the other guy, was the one laying
in the grass, and I believe he was dead at that point,” John said. Zimmerman claims he was walking back to his SUV when Trayvon attacked him from behind.
But Trayvon’s girlfriend, who was on the phone with him, said Trayvon told her that a man was following him. “I think I lost him,” Trayvon told his girlfriend moments
before he was killed.
